Brief Profile of Users
Three users took part in my alpha test. One user was the future site administrator, Rob Logic. Another user is a member of a few San Diego bands and takes and interest in the San Diego music scene, and could foresee using a website of this type to find a recording studio. Another User was a friend who is very web savvy.
Think Aloud task
Navigate the website. Make sure you can access all links and everything is readable. Be able to name 3 bands that have recorded and tell me the name of the studio owner.
Summary of Think Aloud
All users were able to perform the think aloud task, however on 2 of the users the top image that contains all of my links did not show up, they were however able to highlight and click on the links. Though not all of the links were visible, when the mouse floated on the links they were because of the highlight color,
Summary of Posttest.
All users scrutinized the logo that I had made as a placeholder until I had time to make a new one, but this was expected. Two of the users suggested I make captions on all of my equipment pictures, giving descriptions of the equipment shown. Also it was suggested that I have some sort of media player on the music page with a few examples of songs recorded at 25/44. The users liked that they could access band sites from the Music page, and that I had pictures of the equipment, as well as a way to contact Rob. One user suggested that I have hourly rates posted on the site. The users liked the readability and economy of the text. Also the color scheme was well liked.
Findings to be Implemented
• I will be fixing the to image so that it shows all of my links in all browsers.
• I have already Replaced my simple placeholder logo with my new one.
• I will be including descriptions of all of the equipment shown on the site as captions.
• I am hoping to be able to post at least two songs on the Music page, however they may have to be mp3 or QuickTime files, I will have to look into media players.
Findings that will not be Implemented
• Depending on whether or not Rob wishes me to post hourly rates, I will but he wanted people to contact him first, to be determined.
